Scales Elementary School in Brentwood has been named by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School, joining five other schools from Tennessee to earn the honor that was announced earlier today.
The Williamson County school will be officially honored during a recognition ceremony Nov. 7-8 in Washington, D.C. Fewer than 8,800 schools nationwide have received Blue Ribbon Awards in the program’s 36-year history.
“This is a major achievement, and I am so proud of the students and staff at Scales Elementary,” Williamson County Schools Superintendent Mike Looney said in a news release. “As a district, we now have 10 schools to reach this major milestone.”
